Tara Na’t Maglakbay! (C’mon, let’s travel!)

Celebrated each year every 27th of September, the world observes World Tourism Day during said date as spearheaded by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO). To complement this, the Philippines enacted the last week of September of each year as National Tourism Week.

Tourism and Green Investments

The World Tourism Day and the tourism industry had grown ever since it started in 1980. This year’s theme, “Tourism and Green Investments,” highlights the need for better investments– not just the usual business fundings, but those that back on people, the planet, and prosperity.

Philippine Tourism

Ever a trademark of the Filipinos, the country is well-known for its people’s hospitality. But more than this is the culture, heritage, and history that the Philippines is proud of, which can be seen even in the littlemost ways of a Filipino.

Filipino Hospitality

Rooted in the basic unit of a society, the Filipino family is the source of every Filipino’s hospitable demeanor. From childhood, it has been embedded within us through our values and culture. This trait, according to well-known Filipino Historian Teodoro Agoncillo, had been misunderstood by colonizers where they perceived it as a form of inferiority. Contrary to this belief, the Filipinos are innately heartwarming and compassionate, and believe that one should be loyal to a friend to the point that they are treated like family.

Uniquely in the Philippines

Travelling in the Philippines is quite unique due to its diversity. Apart from not having a winter season, visitors sometimes ask, what else might we do? With an answer always at their disposal. Budget tours are always present especially for foreign students taking a gap year. Luxury tours are also present for those wanting to have a luxe escape into nature. The country is also proud for the number of its UNESCO sites such as the Tubbataha Reefs Marine Park, and the Rice Terraces in the Cordilleras. Adventure destinations are also present such as Canyoneering and Whitewater Rafting. To cap off, the Philippines is also a great shopping destination as the capital does not only have a wide variety of shopping centers, but also offers a wide spectrum of fashion choices which cater to every budget.

A Contribution to the Society

According to the UNWTO, the tourism industry employs one in every ten people in the world. True enough, when one speaks to another regarding what they do for work, they will be more or less connected to the industry whether formal or informal. We are proud to invest in people as we know this would circle back in the industry. An example of this would be our conduct of familiarization trips for our staff to equip them with the local knowledge on our tourism experiences. Additionally, we are proud to partner with our suppliers and agents since what we do creates an impact not just to our visitors, but also to us in the workforce of the industry.

In pursuit of the above, and in our mission to support the local communities, we aim to continuously give back and/or contribute to those who also willingly share their resources to us. The Bangaan Elementary School in Ifugao has, for many years now, been under the wing of Blue Horizons Travel & Tours, Inc. Although it has been halted by the pandemic, we are glad that we were able to visit them again last year, and to have provided them with various learning aids and equipment. We are hopeful that these efforts will continue moving forward, and that we’ll be able to spread more ‘cheer’ in other local communities.
