October 2025 – Experience the Philippines!

×

As the quest for meaningful travel flourishes, and more and more travelers are seeking experiential tours, hyperlocal travels are being sought out for such ventures to enable deeper, authentic journeys. One may say that the Philippines’ culture may come from different origins, but the traditions from time of old are always imbibed in the daily lives of the country which makes it uniquely Filipino. For this month, we feature experiences done the local way or immersive experiences:

Heirloom Rice in Banaue, Mountain Province

While the Rice Terraces of the Philippine Cordilleras are already majestic enough to be seen from a viewpoint, why not visit the people doing the planting of the rice and participate in its production? Depending on the season of travel, one may even be able to experience rice crop planting, and go through the process of milling rice traditionally. Converse with the locals, and get a grasp of the rice planting cycle in the Cordilleras and how each farmer painstakingly considers each seed from planting to harvesting.

Manila, the Local Way

Our flagship program offers an authentic glimpse into city life. Participants immerse themselves in the local experience by utilizing public transportation, observing the vibrancy of street life, and sampling local street food. This hands-on approach allows individuals to truly understand the resilience, joy, and wisdom with which Filipinos navigate their daily lives.

The Living Art of Motag Museum

The museum offers an immersive experience, reintroducing the Filipino ancestors’ way of life to younger generations. Beyond static exhibits, its interactive galleries and live demonstrations, the museum also features individuals engaged in farming, basket weaving, and rice milling, truly earning it the name “living museum.” Visitors are encouraged to participate in these activities, fostering an appreciation for local heritage and the ongoing effort to preserve it.

Lantern-making in San Fernando, Pampanga

The Philippines celebrates Christmas with a tradition of setting up parols (lanterns), so it’s no surprise that the country hosts a lantern festival. This experience offers a glimpse into the creation of Pampanga’s giant lanterns. Observe the meticulous craftsmanship involved, from the initial concept to the intricate electrical wiring, and discover how these traditions and these hand-crafted products that adorn our houses provide a livelihood for the community.
